Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how TechEscrow ("TechEscrow", "we", "us") collects, uses, shares and protects your personal data when you use techescrow.in (the "Platform"). We handle personal data in accordance with the Information Technology Act, 2000, the rules made under it, and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, as applicable.
1. Data we collect
- Account data: name, email address, phone number, password (stored only as a one-way hash), and your account preferences.
- Seller verification (KYC) data: PAN, bank account details in your own name, and address. Where required by our payment partner, further identity documents. We collect this only from Sellers.
- Address data: delivery and pickup addresses you save, so a courier can collect and deliver parts.
- Listing and chat content: listings, photos, offers and messages exchanged between Buyers and Sellers.
- Order and payment data: order details, amounts, payment status and references. Card, UPI and net-banking details are entered on the payment partner's page and are not stored by us.
- Technical data: IP address, device and browser type, pages viewed and security logs, collected through server logs and essential cookies.
- Support data: what you send us when you contact us or raise a dispute, including evidence you upload.
2. Why we use your data
- To create and secure your account and verify Sellers.
- To run the marketplace: show listings, enable chat and offers, process orders, hold and release payments, and arrange shipping.
- To prevent fraud, enforce our rules (including blocking attempts to share contact details to move deals off the Platform) and resolve disputes.
- To send transactional messages such as order updates, payment links, OTPs and security alerts.
- To meet legal, tax, accounting and regulatory obligations.
- To improve the Platform and fix errors.
We process data on the basis of your consent, the need to perform our agreement with you, and legitimate uses permitted by law. We do not sell your personal data.
3. Who we share data with
- The other party to a deal: when an order is placed, the Seller sees the Buyer's name and delivery details needed to ship, and the Buyer sees the Seller's pickup city. Phone numbers and email addresses are not shown to the other user in chat.
- Payment partner: to collect payments, hold funds and pay Sellers, and to complete Seller verification.
- Courier and logistics partners: name, phone number, address and parcel details so they can pick up and deliver.
- Service providers: hosting, email and SMS delivery, who act on our instructions.
- Authorities: where required by law, court order or to protect rights and safety.
4. Cookies
We use only essential cookies: a session cookie to keep you signed in and a security token that protects forms from forgery. We do not use advertising cookies. You can block cookies in your browser, but you will not be able to sign in.
5. How long we keep data
We keep account data while your account is active. Order, payment and tax records are kept for the period required by law (generally at least eight years). Chat messages and dispute evidence are kept for as long as needed to handle claims. When data is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it.
6. Security
We use encryption in transit, hashed passwords, access controls, prepared database queries, and monitoring. No system is completely secure, so please use a strong, unique password and do not share it. If a breach affects your data we will notify you and the authorities as the law requires.
7. Your rights
You may ask us to access, correct, update or delete your personal data, to withdraw consent, or to nominate someone to exercise your rights. Write to grievance@techescrow.in. We may keep information we are legally required to retain, and deleting some data may stop us from providing the service.
8. Children
The Platform is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
9. Changes
We will post updates to this policy here with a new "last updated" date, and tell you by email if the change is material.
10. Contact
Privacy questions and complaints can be sent to our Grievance Officer. See the Grievance Officer page for details and response times.
